Petition for a police presence on Lamb and Coochie
Two of the smaller island communities, Coochiemudlo and Lamb Islands, appear to have the same problems. Unlike the two larger populations on Russell and Macleay Islands, they do not qualify for a permanent police presence which did so much to curb lawless behaviour. State Member for Redlands, Peter Dowling writes:
The Labor State Government has ignored petitions for a permanent police presence on Coochiemudlo and Lamb islands, brushing aside resident’s concerns about increasing violence and placing further stress on officers at the Redland Bay police station.
LNP Member for Redlands Peter Dowling MP, recently lodged two petitions to parliament on behalf of island residents, calling for a permanent police presence on both islands to curb rising violence.
“These residents believe, as do I, that they have the right to live without fear of harassment and violence” Mr. Dowling said.Read More.....
