Marine life in Moreton Bay could reveal medical breakthroughs.

Beneath the ocean surface, Moreton Bay is alive with activity.

Researchers are looking at 740 different species of fish, 120 sharks and rays, six species of dolphin and a myriad of marine life that could provide crucial information for human medical research.

Dr Kathy Townsend is the Manager of the Moreton Bay Research Station and works closely with manta rays.

Stradbroke Ferries gives Islanders a Break

A whole new possibility is opening up for the people of the Bay Islands to avoid the parking mess at Weinam Creek--cheap overnight weekend trips to the mainland.
In an innovative move, CEO David Thomson of Stradbroke Ferries has announced a special offer over the next three months that will allow islanders to take their cars to the mainland on Saturday afternoons and return sometime on Sunday afternoon.

Discovering how others live is one of those things that makes travel interesting. So abandoning the city for the day, members of the Toowoomba travel club headed off to Russell Island. After the recent hot muggy weather the thought of fresh seabreezes was very enticing, making it the perfect time to learn about the easy going island lifestyle.
It was a pleasant ride down to Redland Bay, where we met the ferry service. Waiting for the water taxi gave us time to admire the view of Stradbroke and the Bay Islands. We were all ready to enjoy a taste of tranquil island life.Read More.....
